Biochemistry and toxicology
The department is active in a broad range of areas: general biochemistry (for which most tests are turned around within one day); tumour markers; toxicology; occupational health (lead levels, aluminium levels, ALA, ALA dehydratase, zinc protoporphyrins); quantitative drug determination; carboxyhaemoglobin levels; carbon monoxide; characterisation of calculi; nutrition (trace elements and vitamins); electrophoresis; and specific protein assays.
Having served Irish Prisons and Drug Treatment Centres for many years, we have particular expertise in drugs of abuse testing.
ASSAYS
The specialised skills of Eurofins Biomnis scientists coupled with state-of-the-art equipment (e.g. inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, high-performance liquid chromatography, gas phase chromatography, atomic absorption spectrometry and Fourier transform infrared spectrometry) allow optimal testing performance, frequently using recognised reference methods.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
We collaborate with several university hospital-based research units in basic research projects, as well as private sector CROs in clinical research.
